Cheese of the Month
Each month we are featuring one of our many fantastic cheese types. Explore our cheese case with an in-depth look into what makes each type unique, how best to serve it, and what to serve it with. There’s a world of cheeses out there, we’ve handpicked the best and want to share them with you! Stop in the store to learn more.
In May, our cheesemonger, Bev, is highlighting three cheeses from Cherry Grove Farm, in nearby Lawrenceville, NJ. Cherry Grove Farm is a sustainable, diversified farm that respects their animals and the environment. They do not use hormones, antibiotics, or steroids. Their cows are pastured on a certified organic pasture, and are milked twice a day. You can read more about their farm animals and sustainable practices on their website.
Bev has picked three of her favorites to share this month: Cherry Grove Farm’s Toma, is a traditional, washed rind tomme made with raw milk and aged a minimum of three months. It’s not just delicious, it’s also a 2012 Good Foods Award Finalist, and with good reason: Toma’s tangy, mushroomy flavor, creamy texture and superior meltability is irresistible.
Cherry Grove Farm’s Herdsman has a mild, nutty flavor and melts beautifully, so it’s perfect for mac & cheese or grilled cheese sandwiches.
If you like your cheese to stand out, especially on a burger, try the Garlic & Peppercorn Jack: a delicious semi-soft jack cheese with a creamy, savory character. You can stop in the store to try any of these delicious local cheeses – we think you’ll be as impressed as we are by them!
